Free answers about housing for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Upstate New York.

Ask about renting, buying, Section 8, the OPWDD Housing Subsidy, SSI and benefits, Special Needs Trusts, tenant rights, or anything else on the housing journey. The Navigator answers in plain language and can look up current information like benefit amounts and waitlists.

A few honest notes before you start. The Navigator is an AI assistant, so double-check anything important with your Care Manager or the agency involved. It gives general legal information, not legal advice. We do not save your conversation, and you never need to share Social Security numbers or other private details, just your county and your situation.

The Housing Navigator is an experimental service from 1000 Villagers. It is not a substitute for a Care Manager, certified Housing Navigator, or attorney. For emergencies call 911.
